Mission:
Our vision is to “Develop Growing Disciples of Jesus Christ”. As we work hard to bring people into an exciting and personal relationship with Christ (Connect with God), we, at the same time, are building a culture of people who will expand God’s Kingdom and transform the lives of people around them (Live on Mission). Jesus told his disciples, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem (personal), Judea and Samaria (local), and to the ends of the earth (global)."We believe that God is already at work throughout our community and around the world, and he has called us to join him there with strategic partnerships that represent projects and people (serve). Practically, this means that we pray, we plan, we give and we go.
What is our Personal Mission? (Jerusalem)
Live, Invest and Tell (“LIT”) We have spent the last year “making God personal” in our lives, and we believe God is sending us into our schools, workplaces, neighborhoods and life on life relationships to make Him known. As we “live out” the Love of Christ to those around us, we are actually investing in their lives and as we invest, God will provide opportunities for us to tell them about His Son. That could be inviting them to our campus for worship, a small group or a special event of the church, or it may mean we equip you to tell them!
What is our Local Mission? (Judea/Samaria)
Reaching the rest of Shelby County, Birmingham, Alabama and the rest of North America would be our next arena. Investing and sending our people to plant churches, connect with the lost and encourage existing ministries, allows us to expand the Kingdom through strategic projects, people and partnerships.
What is our Global Mission? (Ends of the Earth)
Westwood is committed to partnering with God to accomplish His plan to reach and redeem people from every tribe, tongue and nation. We will continue to support missions through our Southern Baptist Mission agencies, and by establishing some new mission partnerships with our brother and sisters in Christ who are in the field and others who are being called to the field right now. We already have many who are committed to these short-term mission trips, and they look forward to going back each year.
